2026 A-Team Tryouts

Get ready for an exciting season of competitive lacrosse!

The Axemen Lacrosse Club will continue to hold separate tryouts for U13, U15, and U17 A-level teams for the 2026 season.

Important Updates for 2026

Referees at Evaluations
We will be hiring referees to manage gameplay during scrimmages and competitive drills. This will:

  • Ensure player safety

  • Emphasize playing within the rules

  • Provide a low-pressure environment for referee development

CDLA Tiering Changes for U11
The CDLA has revised its approach for the U11 age group. Tiering will now align with U13, U15, and U17, meaning:

  • One A-level team per age group (U11, U13, U15, U17)

  • If registration exceeds six teams in an age group, Axemen will be required to field two A teams (per CDLA policy) CDLA_Tiering_Format_2026.pdf

U11 Tryouts
There will be no separate A-team tryouts for U11 in 2026. We will revisit this process for the 2027 season.

Updated Fees
Fees have increased from $75 to $100 to cover the cost of referees and additional evaluators, ensuring all participants receive a fair evaluation.

No Parent Spectators
Parents will not be permitted to attend any evaluations for U11, U13, U15, or U17. No exceptions.

Important Information

Tryout Structure

  • Performance-based evaluation (not a camp-style floor time)

  • Cuts will occur at various stages, including after Day 1

  • Evaluations and cuts conducted by independent evaluators unaffiliated with Axemen Lacrosse Club

Commitment Requirements

  • Attendance at all tryouts is mandatory

  • By registering, families acknowledge the increased commitment required for A-level play, including additional floor times and travel

Expectations

  • Families must be realistic about player abilities

  • The process is performance-focused; some players may be released early

  • Our goal is to ensure teams meet A-level standards

Multi-Sport Athletes

  • While we support multi-sport participation, balancing hockey and lacrosse at the A level is challenging

  • Please consider your availability before registering

Final Roster Selection

  • Initial cuts will be made by independent evaluators

  • The evaluation team will collaborate with the head coach to finalize rosters through additional practice sessions

Stay tuned for registration details in the New Year!
