2010 Bantam Girls Team Alberta applications

CDLA Bantam Girls Teams:

I'm sending this out in my capacity as a member of the Alberta Nationals Committee, as someone who's daughter participated in the Team Alberta program last year, and as an advocate of girls lacrosse in general.

As many of you know, the Team Alberta Bantam Girls Calgary tryouts are Saturday, May 1st.  There will be 2 floortimes that day for the girls and the tryouts will be held at Shouldice Arena.  I just wanted to encourage all teams (and clubs with Bantam aged female players who are playing with the boys) to make a special effort to 'invite' their club's girls out to these tryouts.

While there is a $100 'deposit' that needs to be supplied, it will be returned upon attendance at camp, so essentially, these tryouts are FREE.  I've attached the application form.

If any of your parents or players have any questions about the tryouts, or the program in general, I would be happy to answer them...you can give them my contact information.

Thanks.

Congratulations to Axemens Midget girls winning gold and silver in the Axemen Mothers Day Tournament.

At the Alberta Lacrosse Association Semi-annual general meeting on January 30th, 2009 it was clarified that Girls lacrosse will continue playing with the same set of rules as the boys.

Box Lacrosse Overview:

Most clubs offer girls box lacrosse programs from the PeeWee age group to Junior.   Below the PeeWee age group, the girls play with the boys.

In general, most teams are made up of at least 50% new players at all age groups, so it's never too late to join.  By the time girls hit midget and Junior, however, there may only be around 10% new players.

Congratulations to Axemen Bantam Girls for winning Gold and Silver in the City Championships

A special congratulations to the Girls Edge City Gold winners

Thanks to all of those girls who played their turn in net - Well done!
